The Mehli Mehta Music Foundation in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy Mumbai, Italian Cultural Institute in New Delhi and the NCPA, will present a recital of the above two artists who will perform works by Stravinsky, Boccherini, Debussy, Martucci, Brahms, Schumann and Cascioli.
Francesca Villa studied cello at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Turin and continued her studies under Mario Brunello and Antonio Meneses. She has always dedicated herself to Chamber music, Piano Duo and String Quartet in particular. As a cellist in a string quartet, she won the triennial scholarship De Sono–Protto in 2001.
Francesca Villa collaborates with the “G. Verdi” orchestra of Milan, with the “A. Toscanini” orchestra of Parma, with the Orchestra of the “Teatro Regio” of Turin and with the “Orchestra Filarmonica” of Torino. She teaches violoncello at the Civic School of Moncalieri, at the CDMI (Italian Educational Music Centre) of Moncalieri and at the Inter-communal School of Music of Val Pellice.
Francesco Pennarola undertook his musical studies at the “G.Verdi” Conservatory of Turin, where he acquired a diploma in Piano and Composition, and at the University of Bologna where he graduated in Musicology. After his piano diploma, Francesco Pennarola perfected his skills with Mikhail Faerman (Luxemburg Conservatory), Hans Graf (Salzburg Mozarteum), Jeffrey Swann, Boris Petrushanskj, Alexander Lonquich, Franco Scala, Sergio Marengoni.
He has given concerts both in Italy and Bucarest, Jasy, Craiova, Arad, Lugano, Luxemburg, Salzburg, Athens, Thessaloniki, Minsk and Tehran, both as a soloist and in chamber formations, or as soloist with orchestra. In recent years, he has always dedicated himself to Chamber music, Cello-Piano Duo in particular, with Francesca Villa as a cellist. Francesco Pennarola is a professor of the "G.F. Ghedini" Conservatory of Cuneo, where he is the head of International Relations office.
